Through the Dunes, the Low Route
Through the Dunes
These 2 pictures were worked together and the idea is that they can be hung beside one another in either direction. one looks up Reiss Beach and one back down. One from the lower edge of the dunes one from on top of them. Of course they can also be bought and hung separately.
Reiss Beach is a favourite place for a walk with my dogs. I have made more pieces of art based on this one place than any other so this shows exactly how fond I am of it. Sinclair Bay is made up predominantly by Reiss and Keiss Beach. Long sweeping stretches of sand separated at the corner by Wester River. Aside from summer when it is usually busier, I walk my dogs often here and we regularly get the beach to ourselves or with just the occasional other dog walker. This means that my dogs get to run and run they do. It is such an uplifting sight of freedom and joy to see as they run in and out of the water one after another enjoying the space allowed. The dunes that are depicted in these 2 pictures offer a spectacular walk in themselves giving a feeling of height not dissimilar to a ridge walk and when the tide is high this is a lovely alternative. The grasses sway around you as you weave in and out them following the pathway that runs the full length of the beach and is part of the John O Groats trail.
