Walk through the Cotton Grass - Mullhead
A Walk through the Cotton Grass
Of all the walks on mainland Orkney this is a favourite, the Gloup at the beginning is a sight that many only come to see returning to the car park straight after. But that is not the best bit by far. The rest of this walk in my opinion is so much better. As always, we visited the little church on the Brough of Dearness enjoying the narrow cliff path and the exposed feel you get to there, like a via ferrata from Italy. Returning to the main part of Mull Head for the remainder of the walk. Here on the exposed top of Mull Head at the trig point, where the paths cross, the wind blows, and the cotton grass dances, is where my inspiration for this picture came. A memory of a good day spent walking and talking with my daughters.
