Arrival - Stromness
This one view, the view you get upon arriving in Orkney at Stromness is to me Orkney, and I love it. Stromness with its shops and galleries is in essence a tourist town but oh what a lovely town to be a tourist in. The old towns of Orkney have distinct Orcadian look. Houses huddled together, with narrow stone flagged streets weaving through them and steps between them to the next level up. Creating a patchwork of pattern as the houses climb up the hill some facing to the sea some to each other, a view best seen from the sea.
