Stillness Assynt
Stillness Assynt
Another of the pictures that came from my weekend away in March to celebrate my birthday. When you plan days away in March you have no idea what the weather will offer you, but this day was sensational, crisp, with bright skies and views all round. A day of mass inspiration given by the amazing views all around me and spent with my husband.
Iain Banks wrote about Great Wee Roads and the road that winds down the west coast of Scotland form Lochinver to Achiltibuie is one such road. Not suitable for any large vehicles it twists and turns corners, up and down steep little hills. Single track with those lovely iconic passing places all the way. From this road you get the most amazing views of the hills over and over again if it is lucky enough to be a good day like we had. It was late afternoon as we drove down stopping a multiple of times to admire the low warm light on the hills. They actual glowed, the warmth of colour created by the low sun and the late winter grasses and bracken was breath taking. Such moments stay in your soul to remind you of the beauty that surrounds us.
The view pictured shows Stac Pollaidh on the left and Ben Mor Coigach on the right. Stac Polliadh holds many special memories of laughs and friends and especially my first dog. I have had many visits to its multiple tops, and Ben Mor Coigach and Sgurr an Fhidhair was without doubt one of my favourite days walking, so much to remember in this picture.
